Selection material of anode
There are three basic types of liquid-binding material used in the manufacture of anodes and zinc, aluminum and magnesium .

Use
Zinc anodes - Salt Water
Magnesium anode - fresh water
Aluminum - both waters ( use also in fresh and salt water )

Wrong application
When using a zinc anode ( designed for salt water ) in fresh water and vice versa magnesium anode ( designed for fresh water ) in salt water ,
corrosion protection not working, so it is necessary to use an anode recommended for the exact type o water.
Aluminum anodes are universal , but less efficient than a magnesium in fresh water , as well as zinc in salt water , they will dissolve faster than the zinc .
